Ford Professor Emeritus and a senior lecturer in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Department of Urban Studies and Planning. Dr. Schön, who was initially educated as a philosopher, has been an educator, consultant, and government administrator. During his 20+ year tenure at MIT, he served as head of the department (1990-92). He was also director of the Institute for Applied Technology at the National Bureau of Standards and president of the Organization for Social and Technological Innovation. His recent research focuses on public and organizational learning, professional effectiveness, professional education, and design research. |
