David Feeny contributes to a high proportion of Templeton's programmes and is Director of the Oxford Institute of Information Management, internationally recognised for its pioneering work on the strategic implications of IT. Research topics include the role of IT as an enabler of sustainable strategic advantage, most recently in the context of e-business; the implementation of major IT-based projects; the organisational arrangements which foster strategic exploitation of IT - including the CIO role; relationships between CIOs and CEOs; core capabilities of the IT function; and the sourcing of IT services. His work has been published in leading IS and general management journals including Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review and McKinsey Quarterly.
David Feeny holds an MA from Oxford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Before returning to Oxford in 1984 he was for many years a senior marketing manager with IBM. In addition to his teaching and research activity, he is a consultant to a number of leading industrial and commercial organisations, and was formerly Vice-President of Templeton.
