subjects William Oncken writes about Time Management, Personal Success
William Oncken's profile William Oncken, Jr. was one of the foremost time management experts in the country. He believed that enlightened career self-interest is the driving force behind true managerial excellence.

He founded his company, The William Oncken Corporation (WOC), in 1960 in New York City. He set as his mission, to provide management development programs deeply rooted in the realities of the management environment. He conveyed the philosophies he created by using his own unique vocabulary and imagery. This provided a message that once heard, is not easily forgotten.

As a result, this approach has proven to be effective in dealing with management dilemmas and after 37 years his seminars continue to be in demand in the U.S. as well as internationally.

His principles are timeless in that they deal with human beings and complex organizations as they are, rather than as we would wish they would be. Mr. Oncken's programs teach us how to succeed in management in spite of the inherent people problems, bureaucratic red tape, and an ever changing world.

His strategies are readily grasped and implemented by the individual manager where ever they are in their organization, without relying on prerequisite company-wide acceptance. It all starts with "you", the center of your own universe. Mr. Oncken called it, your "molecule" of management, with you at the center.

Mr. Oncken's son, William Oncken, III, joined the company in 1978 as Manager of Product Development. In 1985 he was appointed President under his father, the Chairman and CEO of WOC. Since Mr. Oncken's death in 1988, his philosophies have been carried on under the leadership of Bill III.

William Oncken, III received his MBA from Southern Methodist University in 1976, followed by several years in the insurance and estate planning industry. Prior to that he had been a Regular Army Officer where he served as a Ranger and Paratrooper. He spent his pre-college years as an enlisted man in the infantry (Airborne) with duty in Vietnam, and upon his discharge attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1971 as a Distinguished Military Student.

A gifted writer and articulator of issues of general management concern, Bill frequently appears as keynote speaker for conferences, and conducts training programs for corporations; his articles have appeared in many professional publications, such as Executive Excellence and Success magazines.

His favorite avocations are skydiving, playing chess and studying history.
