Dr. Ansoff taught for 17 years at USICB before his retirement in 2000 and his death in 2002. During his academic career, he also taught at Carnegie Mellon University, The European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management, and Stockholm University. He was founding dean of the Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
He previously held senior management positions at the Rand Corporation and Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. He is president of Ansoff Associates, a consulting firm on strategic management in Turbulent Environments, and has done consulting works for such companies as General Electric, Phillips, IBM, Westinghouse, and Gulf Oil.
Dr. Ansoff was the author of numerous research papers and articles in addition to his pioneering books: Corporate Strategy, From Strategic Planning to Strategic Management, Implanting Strategic Management, and The New Corporate Strategy.
Every two years, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, with the University of Twente in the Netherlands, confers the Igor Ansoff Strategic Management Award on the person who demonstrates excellent strategic thinking that bridges theory and practice. The Japan Strategic Management Society also presents an annual major award bearing Dr. Ansoff's name. |
