Geert Hofstede is Emeritus Professor of Organizational Anthropology and International Management of Maastricht University, and presently Senior Fellow of IRIC, the Institute for Research on Intercultural Cooperation, and Extra-Mural Fellow of the CentER for Economic Research, both at Tilburg University. He holds an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Delft Technical University and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from the University of Groningen. His occupational activities have varied from sailor, factory worker, industrial engineer, plant manager and personnel director to teacher and researcher at various academic institutions in Europe, including IMD, INSEAD, EIASM and IIASA. He has done extensive research in the area of national and organizational cultures and he has published, lectured and acted as a consultant for public and private organizations in many countries in Europe and beyond. |
