The Exact Book You Need for Creating Great Presentations I was lined up to give a presentation and hadn't given one in a while. I was looking around for books that help formulate a talk in a compelling way. I bought and looked through all the books I could find on the subject matter.
This is the best book on the planet for what I wanted.
From the Power Sound Bite to the Power Close, the author lays out excellent ideas with great examples. The book focuses more on the content of great presentations (what you say) rather than the implementation of presentations (how to say it).
I practiced my presentation over and over, and refined it with Wiskup's ideas in mind. My presentation went extremely well. Wish I knew the author and could thank him personally, but I don't, so I wrote this review instead.

Helpful, especially for a 30 minute presentation To cope with my bi-monthly need to present to a group of around 150, I had read several books on presentation recently and found this relatively helpful, with the author's audience orientation and skilful writing. The dos and donts, always elaborated with rationale behind and samples, are great. In short, recommended.
p.s. Below please find some of my favorite passages for your reference.
Action items for your next presentation:
1. Banish the presentation opening donts.
- Do not thank the audience
- Do not tell the audiences how glad you are to be with them
- Do not start with a joke
- Do not start with the words "I've been asked to speak about."
- Do not apologise
- Do not force the audience to give you an enthusiastic "good morning" or "good afternoon"
2. Develop your power open
- Power open #1: Use your power sound bite as the first words that come out of your mouth.
- Power open #2: Create a story around a real or imagined person that creates a strong visual lead-in to your power sound bite. pg92
Numbers based weak power sound bite: I want to be number one in our category.
Strong power sound bite without numbers: When our customers have a choice, I want them picking us, their old firend, time after time. pg127
When you have to say you're honest, they start to wonder. pg144
Presentations come to life Excellent guide on connecting with the audience. My presentations are generally information driven (Medical field) and there is very little room to change and create a connection with the audience, or so I thought. After reading this book (a very quick, entertaining and easy read) I presented a topic that was rather dry; I had more peoplle come up to me with positive remarks and feedback then I ever had. I highly recommend this book.
Simply put - a great book! This book was a great help - read most of it one day, and used the techniques the very next weekend. A great book!
BEST RESOURCE for advanced & thought-leader presenters The downside of this book is that it has no visuals, no pictures, no fancy color printing inside, and it is printed in expensively; no bells & whistles - just meat & potatos.
Recently, wanting to move my presentation skills to the next level, I spent $1,500 on books & audio. Without a doubt THIS BOOK IS THE BEST resource for advanced presenters. Of all the trainings in my career I've had in presentaiton, negotiation, media & crisis communication, I recommend this as 'the golden little book' to connect with an audience.
I applied the ideas now 3 times to big presentations and each time with "knock-out" success & unsolicited feedback from the audience afterwards. Practice makes perfect !
