Causion - [...] dollar value version missing StrengthFinders access code.
This report is about the physical condition of the twelve dollar version. The book text is just fine. It is missing a critical portion of the material. Otherwise it is an excellent product to which I would give a four or five star rating. Each copy of the hardcover version in the "Strengths" series, authored by Marcus Buckingham, includes a single use access to the "StrengthsFinders.com" evaluation. An access code is required for perform the evaluation. This access code is printed on the reverse side of the paper jacket that covers the hardcover binding. In the twelve dollar value version this access code is missing. Therefore, the reader will not be able to undergo the evaluation portion of the material. In fairness, Amazon does say that the twelve dollar version is a value version and there is a statement that a value version may contain some minor flaws that do not affect the content of the book. In the past I have always found this to be a true statement, so I believe the missing code is just an honest oopps. However, if the code is missing from the paper jacket, then the book is not complete. And the way the price is marked, that is, $30.00 slashed to $[...] leads one to believe it is a full printing. The day before placing this order, I ordered a separate copy of the book priced from $30.00 down to $17.00 give one to a friend. Both copies arrived on the same day allowing a comparison of the Value copy to a properly printed copy. The value copy has the following differences: - The book is physically smaller, a half inch narrower, an inch shorter - The inks are duller - The font type is slightly smaller - The paper grade is slightly lower - The StrenthFinders.com access code is missing from the inside of the paper jacker Otherwise it appears to be the same book. If you have already taken the StrengthFinders evaluation and don't care about the code there are situations for which the slightly smaller size can be an advantage, for example for someone who travels a lot and likes to read while in transit. This being said I am a big fan of the Marcus Buckingham books and would give it a rating of four or five stars otherwise.
