Great job hunting book
This book teaches contrarian and unconventional ways to land a job by marketing yourself like a product. In the first few chapters, the author presents you with the reasons why you should not use conventional methods of getting a job. By sending resume, your resume will end up in the trash bin. Resume are common and it presents only one side of the candidate. You should also skip the HR department because usually the actual hirer is more flexible with your experience and knowledge whereas HR personnel usually hire by the book and they will try to find any reason to eliminate your resume from a long list. If you sell yourself to the HR department, you don't really know your customer. The next few chapters explain that you should market yourself as a product and examine the reasons why the client (hirer) should buy your services. You should first define the services you are going to provide and then you should target a prospective company to market yourself. You need to conduct extensive research of your prospective client and finally write an impact sales letter to the decision maker. No resume should be send at this point. A resume could be furnished after the interview. The purpose of the impact letter is to get an interview. Then the author illustrate in details how to select a target company, how to research the target company and how to write an impact sales letter. The author devoted some chapters exploring the dos and don'ts in writing a resume. For the rest of the book, the author, discuss in details how to conduct a sales meeting / interview. Although this is an old book, but the method and techniques are relevant today. The most important message in this book is to abandon conventional ways of getting a job, treat yourself like a product and use marketing or sales technique to sell yourself to the prospective client.

wow...
This may have good content, but its not a book! I ordered from this site and received an audiocasette!. The old ones that no cars even have a slot for anymore. Nowhere in the review does it specify that and the reviews all talk about the book... don't buy unless you want some tapes to listen to.

Best job hunting book I've ever read
This is the best job hunting book I've read in my career. It is precise and to the point. No fluff here. This is a book for people that don't have much time to read books. His writing style is excellent. Follow his tip about sending a thank you note after an interview. I've interviewed numerous people throughout my career. I received only 2 thank you notes. I still remember them to this day even though I received them 10 years ago.

Helpful tips
This short book is chocked full of interesting alternatives to the resume. It is worth the money and a read!!!
